The Workshop on Holistic Architecture for Privacy in Clouds, Edges, and IoT (HAP) focuses on research challenges related to data privacy in small- to large-scale computing platforms, placing more emphasis on a ”holistic” approach of innovative co-design of computer architecture, systems software, and formal verification. The workshop aims to foster collaboration and discussion among researchers and practitioners with different backgrounds; hardware architects, system software developers, and theorists. Current design of computer systems is horizontally divided and makes it harder to design safe and secure systems based on a vertical consistent view of the entire system from bare-metal hardware, firmware, hypervisors, operating systems, libraries, to applications. Guaranteeing privacy strongly demands an holistic approach because privacy will be compromised if there is a minor weak point in the entire stack from hardware to software; strong software on weak hardware cannot guarantee privacy and vice versa. The workshop seeks contributions on all aspects of data privacy and protection.
